Does Battery operated equipment need PAT Testing?

Battery powered electrical appliances such as laptop computers, torches and cameras are commonly referred to as "Class 3 appliances", which are extra low voltage items, and thus the safest class of electrical appliance, so they do not need a PAT test, and so do not fall under the remit of portable appliance testing. Other battery powered items such as childrens toys and power tools, also do not require PAT testing, but again if they seem to be faulty, don't use them.   However, charging leads and adaptors should get tested.
