Why PAT testing is critical on construction and industrial sites
Construction and industrial environments present a higher electrical risk than most workplaces. Equipment is often used outdoors, moved frequently, and exposed to harsh conditions that increase the likelihood of damage.
As a site manager, contractor or duty holder, you are legally responsible for ensuring electrical equipment is safe for use. Regular PAT testing is a key part of demonstrating compliance and reducing the risk of injury, fire or enforcement action.
PAT testing supports compliance with:
- Electricity at Work Regulations
- Health & Safety at Work Act
- HSE site inspections
- CDM Regulations (where applicable)
- Insurer and contractor requirements

Testing 110v, 230v & 400v equipment
Industrial and construction equipment often uses commando plugs (110v, 230v and 400v), which require specialist testing equipment and additional inspection time.
We carry the correct adaptors and tools to safely test these systems and identify issues such as:
- Damaged connectors
- Incorrect wiring
- Unsafe repairs
- Excessive wear
Minor repairs are included where possible. If full plug replacement is required, we’ll quote before carrying out any work.
Same-day PAT Testing Certificates for Construction Sites
Where required for site induction, audits or inspections, we can often issue same-day digital PAT Testing Certificates, subject to availability.
Certificates are emailed as PDFs and are suitable for:
- Principal contractors

- Insurers and compliance teams
For new clients, payment is required before same-day certificates are issued.
