Join DRA PAT Testing

In-House Training
Whilst you having some PAT testing experience would be a bonus, it is not essential, as full training will be given.
You do however need to have some experience of at least one of the following:
- Driving for work
- Understanding and proficient use of Excel and computers in general
- Understanding of basic electrical safety
- Customer service
These are must haves:
- English as your first language
- You need to be based within North Tyneside or bordering towns.
- You will need a driving license (with less than 6 points), and your own reliable vehicle for work use. We may be able to provide a company vehicle after probation based on performance.
- You must be able bodied and fairly active – this is not a desk job; you’ll be on your feet most of the day, and are expected to work in confined locations at times.
- You must be over 21 – this is due to the nature of places we operate in.
- You must have no criminal record, as you will be expected to pass an enhanced DBS check.
Training is Provided
Within a 6-month probation, our in-house training course comprises an initial 10 week programme where we take you from Novice to competent engineer, teaching you all aspects of the job through ‘classroom’ training, practice, and on-the job shadowing and mentoring. You will also be put through the industry standard qualification, City and Guilds 2377.
A good package
We offer an excellent package with useful benefits:
- 28 days holiday per annum including bank holidays; after 12 months’ exemplary service your birthday off
- Christmas shutdown
- Company pension
- Company medical insurance and cashback plan
- Full toolkit, PPE and branded workwear provided
- Paid travel time
- Paid fuel expenses if using own vehicle for work
- Competitive salary (higher than the industry’s national average)
Engineers are paid an hourly rate to cover all worked hours (see below), starting at minimum wage when you begin service as a novice, through training. When passed Initial training (after approx. 10 weeks) wages increase to £13.50 per hour.
- On completion of 6 months probation wages increase further to £14.00 per hour, and you are added to company Health Insurance and cash-back plan.
- After 12 months on-target performance, wages increase to £14.50 per hour, and holiday on birthday added.
- Further rises based on experience and performance up to £15.00 per hour.
As an example – based on average 160 hours per month working this equates to (in order of above) £25,920 per annum, £26,880 pa, £27,840 pa, £28,800 pa. With regular overtime (mainly travel time) our full time engineers average £33,000 pa.
We operate between the hours of 7am and 6pm, 7 days per week, on a 5-day working week schedule of 8 hours per day + travel time. Paid from the moment you leave home (or the office) to the moment you return at end of day, covering all work travel time. Fuel reimbursed if using your own vehicle.
